Greater Western Library Alliance Reciprocal Circulation Program

What is it?

The ASU Library participates in the Greater Western Library Alliance (GWLA) Reciprocal Circulation Program with other libraries in the consortium.

Reciprocal circulation is a service where the faculty, staff and students of cooperating GWLA member university libraries may borrow library materials on site at other, cooperating member libraries. This service is especially useful for Distance Learning faculty and students who live outside the Phoenix area.

Participating GWLA Libraries

Who can use it?

All ASU faculty, staff and students in good standing with the ASU Library (e.g. no lost or long overdue items) are eligible for this program by presenting “valid” identification at a cooperating host library. "Valid" identification will be defined by each individual host library.

Community affiliates, including Affiliated Faculty, Community Card, and Special ASU Programs, are not eligible for this program.

What to do if you’re planning to visit other GWLA Libraries

The host library will verify that you are affiliated with ASU and that your ASU Library record is in good standing by asking you to do one or more of the following:

  • Present your ASU Sun Card.
  • Sign into MYASU to verify current employment or registration.
  • Log into your library account to show that you have no outstanding fees.

In some cases, there may be a time delay while the library you are visiting contacts us.

Please note: There are at least two libraries that will charge a small processing fee for a borrower card but most do not charge.

Visiting ASU Library as a GWLA Reciprocal Borrower

ASU Library is home to seven library facilities across four ASU campuses.  Borrowing privileges will be extended to eligible users under the Community Borrower Loan Policy.

Anyone planning to participate may contact Allison Leaming MaleckiMary Plummer, or Stephen Arougheti, for more detailed information.
