In this series titled “Dispatches from the Field” we highlight stories from members of the Arizona State University (ASU) Library and the Community-Driven Archives (CDA) team regarding a number of activities we here at ASU Library are working on or involved with that is associated with the work of community archiving. As we continue to adjust to the new normal due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation the staff at ASU Library have used this opportunity to create many online opportunities to keep engaged with our students and communities at large.
The CDA team continues to host virtual Show & Tell events via Zoom and our last event for the month of April will be held on April 28, 2020 at 12:00 pm (MST). We are happy to announce that we will continue to hold these Show & Tell events for the month of May. To find out more information regarding CDA events please visit the CDA Facebook page or look out for email updates from our team regarding the dates and times of those events.
In addition to our Show & Tell event, we are pleased to be a part of an event co-hosted by the Labriola Center titled “Memory in the Midst of Pandemic” scheduled for April 30, 2020 at 12:00 pm (MST). In this question and answer session the CDA team along with the Labriola Center will answer questions from the community regarding what archiving means in the times of COVID-19 and under what conditions it is appropriate to document events happening within marginalized communities during the time of COVID-19 due to the fact that this pandemic has affected our communities the most. This session will provide tips from the CDA and Labriola Center teams on what steps students and community members can take to preserve materials during this pandemic and how to assess whether those materials are warranted during the time of COVID-19. Please join us on April 30, 2020 at 12:00 pm (MST) via Zoom at this link, view this flyer or please visit the Labriola Center’s Facebook page for information regarding this event and everything else going on at the Center.
