In this series titled “Dispatches from the Field” we highlight stories from members of the Arizona State University (ASU) Library and the Community-Driven Archives (CDA) team regarding a number of activities we here at ASU Library are working on or involved with that is associated with the work of community archiving. The CDA team at ASU continues to hold virtual events due to the COVID-19 pandemic and we want to thank everyone who has participated in our online events so far. We have had such an amazing turn out for these events and we could not be more thrilled to continue to bring you online events during this time.
We will be conducting one event via Zoom for the month of July that we are very excited to share with you. We will be doing another Conversation with a Community Archivist event this time with community archivist Quincy Stewart, who is a Research Specialist with the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability here at ASU. This event will take place on July 23, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. Quincy has quickly become one of our favorite community archivists due to his enthusiasm and willingness to spread the word about community archiving. He has invited the CDA team on multiple occasions to host events with the Sigma Beta Club where he serves as a youth mentor. We’re excited to hear more about his experience as a community archivist and hope you’ll be inspired by his story.
Please follow us on our CDA Facebook page as well as the CDA Instagram page to keep up to date with our team and the events we will be hosting. And for more details about how to download Zoom to attend these events please visit this link. We look forward to seeing you all at these events and please continue to visit our CDA Facebook and Instagram pages as well as our website to learn more about what ASU Library is doing regarding community-driven archives and the initiatives we are undertaking concerning community archives and community archiving in Arizona.
