In this series titled “Dispatches from the Field” we highlight stories from members of the Arizona State University (ASU) Library and the Community-Driven Archives (CDA) team regarding a number of activities we here at ASU Library are working on or involved with that is associated with the work of community archiving. The continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic situation has changed many of our daily work and personal lives and workflows. The staff at ASU Library as well as the CDA team have had to postpone or cancel many upcoming events scheduled for the month of April due to the social distancing recommendations to help stop the spread and flatten the curve of the COVID-19 virus.
As announced in a previous post two weeks ago, the CDA team held their first virtual Show & Tell event via Zoom on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 where we had 17 members of the community join us to share family histories and stories associated with cherished family photos. We would like to announce in this post that for the month of April the CDA team will be continuing these Show & Tell events until the end of the month virtually via the Zoom platform. The dates of these Show & Tell events are as follows: April 10, 2020 at 10:00 am, April 14, 2020 at 12:00 pm, April 23, 2020 at 3:00 pm and April 28, 2020 at 12:00 pm. Please follow us on our CDA Facebook page to keep up to date with our team and the events we will be hosting. And for more details about how to download Zoom to attend this event please visit this link. We look forward to seeing you all at these events and please continue to visit the CDA Facebook page as well as our website to learn more about what ASU Library is doing regarding community-driven archives and the initiatives we are undertaking concerning community archives and community archiving in Arizona.
Contact me, Jessica Salow, with feedback at Jessica.Salow@asu.edu, as I would love to hear from you your thoughts regarding the work we here at ASU are doing in community archiving around Arizona. We also want your feedback on what you would like to see from us in future blog posts. See you next week!
