ASU FIDM Library general FAQ

Databases can be accessed through the ASU Library website's A to Z Database index.

The ASU FIDM Library is a specialized library that supports ASU students’ curriculum through many unique resources. An appointment is not needed for currently enrolled ASU students, faculty or staff. Researchers, alumni and other community members, please call us at 213-510-6965 to set up an appointment for your visit.

Students can swatch all fabrics and materials in the room.  Other materials available include magazines, paint chips, AV material and acrylic, wood and metal slabs.  Anything in this area is available for use.

Yes, alumni have access to trend forecasting services.

There are two ways to print:

  • Using your personal device (e.g., laptop, cellphone, tablet, etc.), print documents with the Print Anywhere network.
  • When printing on campus computers, open the file you wish to print – select file, then print from the menu bar.

Finally, tap your Mobile ID or Sun Card at the printer station and select the files on the screen to print.

The computers on campus are equipped with Adobe Creative Cloud, CLO, Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.

Runway resources can be found online in the WGSN database and in the ASU FIDM Library in the Collections books. 

Analog Google: prior to the Internet, librarians and library staff would “clip” articles and advertisements from newspapers and magazines that pertained to a subject (e.g., Gianni Versace, Dandies, Levi Strauss) and place the “clippings” in the subject’s “file.” Our clipping files include vintage articles and advertisements covering hundreds of fashion designers, manufacturers and aesthetics.

Fashion Future is a curated collection of innovative and sustainable products by international designers and manufacturers.

Search by entering applicable keywords into the search bar of ASU Library One Search from the library's home page or on the advanced search page.

The advanced search function can help search materials by specific fields (e.g., author, subject, series, etc.) which helps narrow your search to retrieve relevant results.

Yes, you can renew materials online. Sign into your ‘My Library Account’ under the Account tab in the ASU Library homepage with your ASURITE credentials.
